Change Them

on April 3, 2011

25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 “In your anger do not sin”[d]: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.  Ephesians 4

Why is it so easy for us to hurt eachother?  I mean, think about it?  Have you hurt any one this week…not just physically.  have you used unkind words or gestures, even behind people’s back? Perhaps a sarcastic remark or a judgement, assumption or prejudice.  It’s real easy to be negative, so easy we often don’t notce we’re doing it.  But, it’s our job to notice.  It’s our job to stop.  I hate seeing believers intentionally put down other believers, and I’m not talking correction or rebuking, those we are called to.  I’m talking unconstructive slander and verbal assault.  Words are piercing, more so than stones.  We need to step up and practice what we’ve been given as wisdom in the Word.  God didn’t leave us the bible as entertainment, it is meant to be applied.  Get the anger gone, with all the sin you’ve done and recieved love and grace, who are to not forgive others.  Pain for Christ is good desirable pain, pain for any other reason is not.  Don’t be someone’s pain.

Lord Jesus through you I lift this prayer to the power and mightiful God of Heaven, please rise up faithful Christian soldiers among the inmates at GV, people who live to live for your word and calling.  Father give them wisdom to understand and faith to accept what you require.  Give them courage to live it out and boldness to speak to others and encourage and correct when need be.  Father change their hearts, make them whole and fill them with your love.  In the name of Christ Jesus, by the power of the Spirit I pray.  Amen
