Truth be told

on April 28, 2010

A friend said something interesting to me the other day…parapharsed…When we give our lives over to God, we will see unimaginable blessings, but we must decide to allow His will to overtake our will.  He used the example of relationships saying we can tell ourselves that we want a particular type of person and set out with blinders up to everyone, but that “type” or we can say, God you take the led and reveal to me what I need.  In this there is the understanding that God may not even lead us into relationships, we may very well remain single.  But the important thing is that His will, not ours prevails.

Ok, so human nature, we want what we want right?  I wanna be married, I wanna big house, I want 2.5 children, a six figure salary and a benz.  What are we willing to sacrifice to obtain what we want?  Our souls? Our sanity? Peace, rest, love….security?  We’ve been sold a massive lie.  We’ve been told “You’re the most important”, but you’re not, God is.

Security, success, peace doesn’t come from stuff, it comes from God.  It doesn’t always look like gumdrops and lollipops, sometimes it looks like sickness and struggle.  You see it isn’t in what we feel, it’s in what we know to be true.  Remember Jesus Christ is Truth, Truth is Jesus Christ.  We have a hold of the truth, now we need to live and walk in it.  When God’s will is our first priority, we will see blessings and we will recognise blessings when they come.

Psalm 69

29 I am in pain and distress;
may your salvation, O God, protect me.

30 I will praise God’s name in song
and glorify him with thanksgiving.

31 This will please the LORD more than an ox,
more than a bull with its horns and hoofs.

32 The poor will see and be glad—
you who seek God, may your hearts live!
